Challenging The “Norm”

Life been lifin’, Ya’ll…

I’m feeling compelled to be a better resource by sharing my more recent experiences… particularly in my healing journey.

Recently I posted about challenging the norm, being a disruptor. After goin through it, getting help, ignoring, avoiding and finally implementing some practices…Here are my thoughts:

It’s ok to change your mind:

Attaching permanence to every decision stunts our growth..

Often we fear being trapped by the wrong decisions. But that fear traps us in a comfort zone that really isn’t actually comfortable AT ALL. Every moment we ruminate, wish things were different or resent how things are, steals time from us that we cannot get back. Don’t even get me started on the studies that tie lack of fulfillment to stressors that cause literal disease in our bodies.

Remember that growing requires trying.

Fear and faith are both considered a belief in things that are not known and can only be imagined.

Which outcomes would you prefer to experience more of? Start practicing beliefs that create those outcomes!

Showing up is the WIN, not just the strategy.

We achieve goals, big and small over and over, but we are often missing the feeling of deep fulfillment or validation that we’ve been dreaming of.

Of course, we move right on up to the next thing! We live for the chase.

One things for certain, we are challenged by life and external forces constantly. So as we keep climbing or crawling or just pursuing our goal.. Achieving the self love and loyalty that showing up represents truly is the win of all wins.

Make the little moments better.

I’ve learned time and time again that the BIG moments I fixated on and romanticized never lasted long enough. That kind of dopamine hit came with a hype hangover.

Meaning, I felt such emptiness, frustration, and inadequacy in between those moments.

This happens for a few reasons- the biggest culprit for me personally? Misdirected validation and worth.

  More on that later!

My point is, find ways to enjoy small things regularly because the big things won’t produce enough long-term ROEI  (return of emotional investment) nor is there ever guaranteed consistency with big wins.

Learning the “hard way” is really just an unimaginative way to describe life experience.

What have you learned the easy way?

I’ll bet whatever ease you’ve experienced has come from either you or someone who cares about you experiencing difficulty in some way. Thus, making your future experiences easier.

The problem with attaching “the hard way” is that there are emotions like reluctance, apprehension and shame attached to descriptive words like “hard” and “difficult”. Words have power- so flip the script and watch how your ability to take action rises!

Honestly healing never ends but so much clarity comes from the internal work we do. Every bit of effort counts!

I’d love to hear which of these resonated with you. Join the conversation on IG and sign up for weekly self care tips below!
